Caroline Mae Stenger, 87, of Carnegie, OK passed away Wednesday, December 5th, 2012 at the Carnegie Tri-County Municipal Hospital. She was born August 18th, 1925 to George and Lillie May (Bilyeu) Hancock in Eakly, OK. She attended Mountain View Schools and also Sedan Schools. She married Thomas Venson Davis in 1944 and he preceded her in death on March 05,1959. She later on was united in marriage to Roland Wilford Stenger in 1969 who also preceded her in death on August 23, 1999. Caroline worked as head cook for Carnegie Schools for twenty two years. She enjoyed preparing meals and making cinnamon rolls for everyone. Caroline was an encourager and was always helping those in need. Her family and friends were the love of her life. Caroline also liked helping with the farming and cattle. Caroline was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carnegie, OK.

Ira Vernie McAnally, 78, of Fort Cobb, Oklahoma was called home by the Lord on Sunday, January 29, 2012. He was born March 11, 1933 to Vernie and Eva (Smith) McAnally near Albert, Oklahoma.

He was a graduate of Oney High School, where he was the school’s first FFA Chapter president.

He met the love of his life, Evelena Klusmeyer, and on June 2, 1952, they were united in marriage in his grandparent’s home near Highland Methodist Church.

He received an Associate Degree from Cameron college in Lawton. He joined the ROTC while in college at Oklahoma A&M, later to become OSU, and received a degree in Agronomy in 1955.

He served active service with the U.S. Army, and later the Army Reserve, attaining the rank of Captain and received an honorable discharge in 1965.

Ira worked for the U.S.Soil Conservation Service (USSCS) at various locations in Oklahoma, and left the USSCS in1963 to farm full time near Fort Cobb Lake.

God blessed Ira and Evelena with four wonderful children. Ira was a loving husband, father, grandpa, neighbor and friend. His greatest love was for his wife and family. He especially enjoyed all the time he spent with his grandchildren.

They farmed for 30 years, raising peanuts, cotton and other crops, as well as livestock. He enjoyed harvesting peanuts and hay, both his own and other farmers.

While raising his children he was a Boy Scout leader, and was active with the Fort Cobb Little League Baseball.

Ira retired from farming about 1990, and returned to college at SWOSU to obtain an accounting degree in 1991. Ira and Evelena then established the McAnally Tax Service, and Ira became an IRS Enrolled Agent, providing tax services until 2011.

He was a Mason for over 50 years, most recently a member of the Hydro Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. He received recognition from the Caddo County chapter of the American Farmers and Ranchers for his years of service on the county board, the AFR and the Farmers Union. He contributed to the Oney and Fort Cobb Community.

He was an active member of the Fort Cobb United Methodist Church, and later the Highland United Methodist Church, where he was also treasurer.

Ira will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Gladys B. Fowler died on Wednesday, December 28, 2010, at home in Cottonwood, CA. She was 90 years old.

She was born July 20, 1920 in Kiowa County, Oklahoma. Moved to Southern California in 1942 and to Northern California in 1984. She most recently lived in Anderson. She retired from Rexall Drug Store in 1972. She was an active member of the Anderson VFW Post 9650, Women's Auxiliary for for over 26 years, attended the United Methodist Church in Anderson, and was a member of the Anderson Frontier Senior Center.

The following was copied from a letter sent from Dale Hancock...

Just a note to catch up and let the ones that missed this year's reunion know that you were deeply missed. We're set to have it at Lake Murry State Park again next year -- same weekend (Aug. 14-15). Mark your calendars. The facility that we used allows us to bring in outside food, snacks, etc.

Gene Hancock tells us that those of you with campers, 5th wheel trailers, etc, can stay a couple miles north of the lodge for around $20/per night.

We had a little "Hancock Trivia" which was both fun and educational. I have included a copy for your enjoyment. (Study up Sherry, some of the questions will show up again next year.) Tom Davis proved to be the smartest Hancock in attendance. (However, we did grade our own test.)

Some people glitter and shine but these folks are pure gold. I think I can speak for everyone there. We truly treasure each and every minute we had to share with each of you. For the examples you have given us to live by, we call you the legacy generation. You inspire us to live better and appreciate our heritage. WE SAY THANK YOU!
